Conair Corporation, the world leader in personal hair care appliances, announced its acquisition of the scünci hair accessory business, including the well-known scünci trademark, from scünci International, Inc.

scünci International, Inc., a Pennsylvania corporation, has developed scünci into one of the most successful hair accessories brands in the United States. Today the scünci trademark is utilized on millions of elastic and cloth ponytailers, combs, jaw clips, barrettes, bows and hair fastener products.

The combination of Conair's own leading hair brush/hair accessory business with the scünci brand will make Conair a world leader in the hair care accessory category. The company will use its heritage appliance expertise to expand the scünci brand product line to include hair care appliances. Plans to extend the market into Europe, where Conair is already the market leader in hair care appliances under its BaByliss® brand, will further increase Conair's leadership position.

Conair's other well-known brands include its market-leading small kitchen appliances under the Cuisinart® and Waring® names, Weight Watchers® and Thinner® premium bathroom scales, Pollenex® shower heads, ConairPro®, Rusk®, Forfex® and Jilbere de Paris® professional hair care products, as well as BaByliss® personal and hair care products sold throughout Europe.

With the acquisition of scünci, Conair's largest acquisition to date, the Conair Corporation achieves its $1.5 billion worldwide sales goal. The merging of these two leading names in the hair care business benefits consumers, worldwide, and assures the continued growth of Conair's core businesses.
